By July 1, 2010, all merchants that accept MasterCard and Visa (and other) credit cards will be required to be certified as PCI DSS Compliant. Certification means that you have taken the appropriate steps to ensure that credit card information you process and hold on behalf of your customers is adequately secured.
The software you use for credit card processing is a key part of your certification, so if you use RentPlus for credit card processing, or even just to store credit card information, your PCI DSS Compliancy certification will depend on the certification of your software from HITECH.
 HITECH is currently in the process of obtaining the necessary certifications. These include PCI Certification for RentPlus 2.0 Online and for PayCenter and PA-DSS Certification for RentPlus 2.0 software installed on client systems. This process is complex, expensive, and takes a number of months. We currently expect to obtain those certifications by April, 2010.
Only RentPlus version 2.0 will be certified. Earlier versions of RentPlus (1.0 to 1.8) will NOT be compliant. For information on upgrading to RentPlus 2.0, please contact Joyce Dunwell at sales@hitechsoftware.com or call 800-551-8324.

Each Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. Eastern, Hi-Tech offers a free, online "webinar" about RentPlus 2.0. A webinar is given on line so you can see the screen of the Presenter on your monitor and you can hear and speak on a conference call that includes all the attendees.
Consider attending a free webinar:
- If you are new to RentPlus, this is a great way to get a demonstration, to ask questions, and to learn more about RentPlus software.
- If you are still using RentPlus 1.8, this class will make it easier for you to see the benefits of upgrading, to plan and schedule the upgrade, and how easy it is both to upgrade and to use the new system.
- If you have just upgraded to RentPlus 2.0, use the webinar to learn more about the features and benefits that RentPlus 2.0 has to offer.

Folder Column Widths
 In the RentPlus Folders View, the widths of the columns are adjusted to match the size of the window in which RentPlus is running. If you change your window size frequently, this may sometimes create very wide or very narrow columns in one or more folders. If this happens, click 'Reset Columns' in the upper right corner of the Folders tab. This will resize the columns to fit the current window size. |
With the January 2010 update for RentPlus 2.0, a new feature provides color coding of rows in the Customers and Units folders. In the Units folder, rows are blue if occupied, green if vacant, and red if suspended. In the Customers folder, different colors indicate if a customer is paid ahead, current, or past due. Color coding may be turned on or off in Options.
