Getting Started with RentPlus

Select the RentPlus Software you will
need
This step includes selecting the RentPlus
Edition that's right for you and selecting any add-ins that can enhance
your system, such as an Access Control Interface, receipt printer, or
Pay-With-Rent insurance. Your sales representative will discuss your needs
with you and help you choose a complete system and provide a quotation to
you.

Ordering RentPlus
Once you have settled
on the configuration you will need, your order is submitted and
processed by HI-Tech. Payment may be made with Visa, MasterCard,
American Express, or company check (c.o.d.). The RentPlus CD and Startup
Guide are usually shipped the same day via Federal Express.
Installing RentPlus
Insert the RentPlus CD
into your computer, and installation starts automatically. Installation
usually takes only 2 or 3 minutes. Once installation is complete, you
may remove the CD and put it away for safe-keeping. You will probably
only need it again if it becomes necessary to install RentPlus on a new
computer.
Startup RentPlus
The installation
program will have put a shortcut to RentPlus on your desktop.
Double-click that shortcut to get started. The first screen you will see
will ask you to enter your company information and serial number, as
well as your login name and password. When finished, the RentPlus Setup
Wizard is displayed.
Setting up RentPlus
The Setup Wizard takes
you step-by-step through the process of setting up RentPlus for your
business. The printed Startup Guide and the On-Line Help provide
detailed instructions for each of the items that need to be setup. These
include general ledger settings, tax settings, units, rates,
preferences, collection rules, letters, existing customers, and more.
Take your time to go through each step carefully to make sure you have
things setup the way you wish, and that you are taking advantage of all
of the capabilities of RentPlus. Hint: see Practicing and Learning
RentPlus, below.
Ready!
When you have finished
setting everything up, you are ready to start using RentPlus on a daily
basis to enter payments, move-ins, move-outs, transfers, and much more.
Practicing and
Learning RentPlus
RentPlus has a practice
mode which makes it easy to learn about and try out many of the
configuration options in the software. RentPlus may be started up in
practice mode at any time - just choose 'RentPlus Practice' from the
RentPlus startup screen.
Get the Latest
Updates
If you have an Internet
connection, go to the HI-Tech web site and download the latest updates
to RentPlus. This will take about ten minutes to download if you
have a broadband connection - about 30-40 minutes with a dial up
connection. After downloading, it takes just a few seconds to apply the
updates to your RentPlus software.

annual User Forum (held in Las Vegas in February each year), regional
