README.TXT RentPlus(tm) v1.8 July 2002 (c) Copyright 2002 HI-TECH Smart Systems, Inc. To see what is new in version 1.8, see the document on the RentPlus CD entitled "What's new in RentPlus version 1.8" Please note the following: INSTALLATION * If you are UPGRADING from an earlier version, be sure to follow the steps described in the enclosed UPGRADE document. * If you uninstall the demonstration version after installing RentPlus v1.8, you must reinstall RentPlus v1.8 to insure that it works properly. * If an error is displayed during Installation that the Data Access Components cannot be installed, this means that this is already installed on your computer and may be ignored. Microsoft Office 2000 * If you install Office 2000 after you have installed RentPlus, you will probably have to re-install RentPlus. DATE FORMAT * RentPlus will use the date format defined through the International Settings in Windows. However, you cannot set the short date format to show a three-character month. Example: OK NOT OK U.S. Date Format mm/dd/yyyy mmm-d-yyyy Australian Date Format dd/mm/yyyy d-mmm-yyyy PRINTING THE MAP * You can usually print any screen by pressing Ctrl-P. If you press Ctrl-P when the Map is displayed it will not print correctly and it may result in the Map going blank on screen. If so, click the Map Button icon in the toolbar to redraw the Map. You can print the visible portion of the Map using "cut-and-paste": With the map displayed, press the PrintScrn button on the keyboard; open WordPad (or other word processing software), and press Ctrl-V to paste. Then use the word processor print function to print. GRAPHS * If a graph does not appear when you select a graph option, press F5. This will usually make the graph visible. PAYMENT HISTORY * Recreating payment history is not supported in RentPlus. If you are a brand new facility that just opened in the last month or so and would like transactions and payments made from the previous month to be recorded, you can "backdate" your system date. You will need to enter your transactions in the sequence that they were done, day by day. PRINTING THE RENTPLUS USER'S MANUAL * The contents of the RentPlus Help files are available as a Microsoft Word document that may be printed. This document is copied to the RentPlus folder during the v1.8 installation. * To view or print the manual, select View User Manual from the RentPlus Help Menu. If the file is not found in the RentPlus folder, you may print the document from the RentPlus CD. Follow the instructions in the on-line help for detailed instructions on how to do so. If you do not have Microsoft Word (or a compatible word processor) on your computer, you may print the document using Microsoft Word Viewer, which may be found on the RentPlus CD. Follow the instructions in the on-line help for detailed instructions installing and using Word Viewer. UPDATING YOUR PRINTED USER MANUAL * The Help for version 1.8 includes dozens of minor changes to the Help since version 1.7. We recommend reprinting the entire manual if you would like the latest version on hand. Alternatively, use the on-line help. UNINSTALLATION * If you have problems uninstalling the software due to a corrupt Uninst.isu file, follow these steps: 1. delete the Uninst.isu in the C:\RentPlus folder. 2. reinstall the RentPlus software from your CD. 3. uninstall the RentPlus software.
